Walgreens: Scenario For Week of Jan. 23 (Make over $6.00 to Buy Over $100 Worth of Items)

New to Couponing at Walgreens - START HERE

There are a couple tricks to couponing at Walgreens. I have to admit Walgreens is not as easy to coupon at as other stores may be. When I first started out at Walgreens, I always ended up making huge erros in shopping/couponing but, after much trial and error have really come to appreciate (and at times love) couponing at Walgreens.

First off it is important to note that Walgreens will NOT allow more coupons per items being purchased. There are two tricks to overcoming this issue. First off is that if you have a Store Coupon (SQ) & a Manufacture Coupon (MQ) for one item; you will first hand over your MQ to the cashier, and then hand over the SQ, this usually will prevent the register from beeping and not allowing you the full discount on the item.

The other trick to overcoming this issue is to throw some ‘filler items’ into your purchases. Usually theses are items that are less than $1.00 (or I go for items less than $.50, if possible). By adding filler items to your purchases this will also keep the register from beeping and prohibiting the use of all your coupons.  For example:

You buy (1) Brand Name Shampoo; You have (1) MQ & (1) SQ; and the register won’t allow for both coupons to be used. Purchase a candy bar priced at $.50, and viola! You can now use both coupons.

For the week of Jan. 23^rd I am setting up some great scenarios, where you not only are going to spend as little out of pocket (oop) as possible, you will also make quite a bit of money (yes, I said make J).

You are going to have a total of 4 transactions, when I stop up the register I always make sure to let the cashier now I am breaking my purchases up into the specific number of transactions. And if there are people behind me in line, I will do one transaction and step aside to allow other customers to go, as not to take up too much of others time, just trying to be courteous.
