CentsAble Budget Report: Christmas On a Budget

It's time to get into the Christmas Budget. I have been talking about quite a bit over the past month or so trying to get you prepared for the coming season. If you are like most people (and I am just as guilty - in the past that is) of shopping when you have to or need to rather than when you should.

I hope that many, if not all, of you have already started crossing people and presents of your lists, as there have been so many amazing deals of late. I have no doubt that there are still some good deals to come over the next few weeks as we approach Christmas Day.

Be sure you have an actual budget set of EXCATLY how much total you plan to spend on Christmas this year. Be as realistic as possible. Include everyone you plan to purchase for, any parties you may be holding or having to attend and will need to bring either a side dish or present or both. In many cases hopefully you can pull from your stockpile for these type of situations.

Here are some CentsAble Christmas Ideas to keep your budget in check this year:

1.Speak to extended family members about pulling names from a hat and only purchasing for one family member, rather than every family member purchasing for everyone.

2. Each family until purchases one family gift for another family unit within the extended family

3. Agree with extended family to only purchase for the children

4. All extended family pulls their money together and makes a charitable donation in the family's name to a favorite charity, (what's Christmas all about anyways?!)

5. Agree to only spend say $10 or less on one another (or any dollar amount)

6. Finally, just be honest, and if just can't afford to buy for everyone on your list, let your loved ones know. I can't imagine family not understanding extenuating financial circumstances, and I'm sure the majority of families will be more than fine with not purchasing presents.

Wishing All Of You a VERY Merry Christmas!!!
